How It All Began
Our Story
The Bookshop
It began on a rain-soaked October afternoon in a quiet bookshop tucked away on a cobblestone street. Sebastian had been searching for a first edition of Neruda's love sonnets for months. Amara, a restoration architect with a habit of losing herself in poetry sections, had found it first. What started as a gentle dispute over a worn leather volume became a conversation that stretched until the shopkeeper had to gently usher them out into the rain. They continued talking beneath the awning for another hour, neither wanting the moment to end.
Letters Across the Sea
When Amara left for a three-month fellowship in Florence, Sebastian began writing her letters — real letters, on heavy cream stationery with his grandfather's fountain pen. Every week, a new envelope would arrive at her small apartment overlooking the Arno. She wrote back on handmade Italian paper, each letter scented faintly of the jasmine that climbed her windowsill. By the time she returned, there were forty-seven letters between them — a courtship stitched together in ink and longing.
The Garden
On the first warm evening of spring, Sebastian took Amara to the botanical gardens. He had arranged for the gates to remain open past closing, and as twilight settled over the ancient oaks and climbing roses, they walked through the garden as if it belonged only to them. It was there, beneath a canopy of wisteria heavy with bloom, that Sebastian first told Amara he loved her. She smiled and said she had known since the bookshop.
Forsyth Park
Two years to the day since their first meeting, Sebastian knelt beneath the same ancient oaks of Savannah's Forsyth Park where Amara's grandparents had become engaged sixty years earlier. The ring was his grandmother's — an emerald surrounded by tiny diamonds, reset in gold. Amara said yes before he could even finish the question she had been waiting to hear since the very first afternoon.
The Wedding
Now, in the season where it all began, Sebastian and Amara invite you to witness the next chapter of their love story. Beneath the same kind of ancient oaks, surrounded by the wild beauty of a garden at twilight, they will exchange their vows. It is a celebration as timeless and untamed as the love that brought them here — and they cannot imagine it without you.
